Raleigh, NC — The Young Democrats of North Carolina are launching a fund for Democratic primary challengers, dubbed the “Find Out Fund.”
This fund will be used to support Democratic candidates who want to represent the people of their districts and uphold the values that our Democratic coalition holds dear.
“We want Democrats who don’t want to be in the superminority,” said YDNC President Dorian Palmer. “We want Democrats who want to fight for the people back home in their districts.”
“We want to make it clear that you can’t—with a straight face—represent a D+30 district and consistently vote for harmful legislation along with Republicans,” said YDNC Executive Vice President Anna Rios. “Young people are tired of bad faith lawmakers.”
The launch of the “Find Out Fund” follows a joint statement from leaders of all three of the North Carolina Democratic Party’s youth auxiliaries calling out the NC House Democrats who voted along with Republicans to pass the 2023 State Budget.
The joint statement was signed by YDNC President Dorian Palmer, CDNC President Kema Leonard, and NCATD Co-President Daniel Patterson.
In the statement, the three auxiliary leaders said:
“Let this be your notice—March 5th, 2024 comes sooner than you think.”
